"Take off" is the title of Asbjørn Holleruds light-installation at Molde school of culture. The dream of recognition and the dream of making art-work that will reach out in the wide world is a prime mover to many artists. The title also points to the shift in life-situation that is coming up in near future for these young artists; leaving home, stepping out into the world, and starting their own independent life.
The placement of the art installation, in the entrance hall, and under the staircase going all the way up to the third floor, becomes a warm, beating heart in the centre of the building.. The light spreads to the sides and can be seen in the higher levels. The installation meets you when entering the school building, and it gives warmth to a room where concrete is the main material.
The art-comity wanted an art-project with a slight distinction from the traditional art techniques that the young visual art pupils work with daily. Something to lift the the mind and to point ahead. It should also feel relevant to all the different art-forms that are in this building; music, dans, theatre and visual art.
